Suddenly, I feel angry.
Regarding the fact that course prices at sushi restaurants in Tokyo have been rising steadily.
The number of sushi restaurants that charge more than 40,000 yen per person has increased, as well as the sushi restaurants that charge more than 40,000 yen per person.
This time, I would like to introduce a noble sushi restaurant with high cost performance that does not ride on the sushi bubble.
High cost performance doesn’t mean cheap, so there’s nothing wrong with that. Introducing restaurants with high performance for their price.
13 cost-effective sushi restaurants in Tokyo
This time, we mainly selected restaurants based on course fees ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 yen.
The reality is that it is quite difficult to choose a sushi restaurant in Tokyo, as the quality drops significantly once the course price falls below 10,000 yen.
Side note
Good value for money means it’s bound to become popular, so if you want to go to a sushi restaurant of this class, you’ll need to make a reservation in advance. Please note that the amounts listed are excluding tax.
Tsukiji Aozora Sandaime Marunouchi (Yurakucho)
Tsukiji Aozora Sandaime Marunouchi is located in Yurakucho, but offers the best value for money at 8,800 yen including tax.
Point
・Yurakucho
・Course 8,800 yen
・The interior of the store has a luxurious feel
・Can also be used for dating
・Easy to make reservations
・One of the best cost performance restaurants in Tokyo
This is the restaurant with the best value for money among the sushi restaurants in the city center that we will be introducing this time .
A few snacks and 10 or more nigiri items cost 8,800 yen including tax, and there is no service charge. So, if you limit your drinks to one or two per person, the bill will be less than 10,000 yen per person. Despite this price, they offer delicious sushi.
What’s more, the tuna is purchased from Fujita Suisan, which handles restaurants in Tokyo that are difficult to reserve, and the ingredients are of high quality .
The inside of the restaurant has a clean and luxurious feel, making it easy to go on a date, and the location in Yurakucho is great, and it’s easy to make reservations.
By the way, please note that “Tsukiji Aozora Sandaime” has multiple branches, but we recommend the “Marunouchi store.” The procurement and seasoning may vary depending on the branches, so be sure to visit the Marunouchi store.
Sushi Morinari (Tsukiji)
A restaurant in Tsukiji with the best value for money for both lunch and dinner.
Point
・Tsukiji
・Course from 5,500 yen
・The interior of the store has a luxurious feel
・Can also be used for dating
・Easy to make reservations
・One of the best cost performance restaurants in Tokyo
The nigiri made by the chef from the famous restaurant “Ozasa Sushi” is large in size and filling, and you will be impressed by the taste of each item, which is worth the price.
Lunch prices for sushi of this quality start from 5,500 yen, making it the best value for money. The prices are relatively reasonable even at night, so it’s a famous restaurant that I highly recommend for both day and night.
Tsukiuda (Nakameguro)
Tsukiuda, a sushi restaurant in Nakameguro belonging to the MUGEN group, has the most cost-effective Monday course in Tokyo.
Point
・Nakameguro
・The craftsmen are friendly
・The atmosphere is casual
・Monday is the best value for money
・18,700 yen all day on Monday
・Around 25 items with nigiri and knobs
The appeal of this restaurant is that the omakase course is only available on Mondays for 18,700 yen.
Normally, the course is 23,000 yen, but on Mondays, the second course is served, so even though the content is the same as the regular course, it’s a great deal, with a discount of about 5,000 yen.
What’s even better is that the large plate comes with more than 25 dishes including snacks and nigiri , so you’ll be sure to be satisfied with the delicious sushi that fills your stomach (in my case, there were 3 dishes of sea urchin).
It’s also great to be able to advance the sake with the knob.
The quality and quantity of this item is divine to say the least. You can use it for your sushi debut or for a slightly more relaxed sushi date, so please give it a try.
Tomidokoro (Onarimon)
Lunch at Tomidokoro boasts the best value for money in Tokyo.
Point
・Shinbashi (Onarimon)
・Lunch is 6,000 yen
・The interior of the store has a luxurious feel.
・Best in Tokyo for taste and cost performance
・This restaurant shocked me the first time I visited.
This is a restaurant with excellent value for money for lunch, and where you can experience nigiri that is comparable to high-end restaurants in Tokyo for only 6,000 yen (tax included).
The first time I visited was in August 2019, but they have kept their prices the same for over two years.
The owner is a quiet craftsman, so this restaurant is recommended for people who just want to enjoy sushi. The way the chef holds the sushi and the shape of the sushi are both truly beautiful.
The inside of the restaurant has a luxurious feel. For those who want to try their high-class sushi, I would overwhelmingly recommend lunch at Tomidokoro.
Sushi Restaurant Minami (Gaienmae)
Sushidokoro Minami is recommended for both a date and a high-end sushi debut.
Point
・Gaienmae
・The interior of the store has a luxurious feel
・From “Sushi Namba”
・Dinner is 12,000 yen
・Best value for money at night in Tokyo
・This restaurant was opened in April 2020 by the owner of Sushi Namba, one of the top five sushi restaurants in Tokyo.
Personally, I think this restaurant has the best value for money in Tokyo for a sushi dinner.
What’s great about this restaurant is that even though it has a high overall score considering customer base, interior design, atmosphere, taste, and price, the course fee is only 12,000 yen (excluding tax).
I visited in May 2020, right after it opened, but it was surprisingly expensive and became popular, so it seems like it’s becoming difficult to get reservations now.
Anyway, the texture of the toppings is good when you put it in your mouth, especially the squid, which has a texture that can only be found at this restaurant.
Due to its popularity, the price could go up at any time, so be sure to visit early.
Onikai (Nakameguro)
It is an affiliated restaurant of “Sushi Tsukiuda” and also has the best value for money.
Point
・Strongest cost performance
・Nakameguro/Hatchobori
・relatively casual
・The craftsmen are friendly
・Reservations are required as it is a popular restaurant.
・Dinner is 9,000 yen
・Despite its convenient location in Nakameguro, this restaurant is characterized by its high cost performance, with course fees of 9,000 yen (excluding tax).
Although the interior of the restaurant does not have a luxurious feel, the chefs are friendly and you can enjoy sushi in a casual setting. So even people making their sushi debut won’t be nervous.
On the first floor is the one-Michelin-starred Tempura Miyashiro, and one of the attractive courses is the scrolls made with Miyashiro’s shrimp tempura.
By the way, the exterior of the store looks like an old folk house, so if you go there for the first time, you’ll be a little surprised.
Although it is a nigiri-only course, it is very cost-effective, so reservations at the main branch are fully booked up to two months in advance, so be sure to make your reservations early.
The atmosphere is perfect for a date, so it’s a great place to go on a date as well.
Hazuki (Shin-maruko)
“Hazuki” is the only restaurant we will be introducing this time that has a town sushi feel.
Point
・Shin-maruko
・Strongest cost performance
・Town sushi-like atmosphere
・Reservations are required as it is a popular restaurant.
・Dinner is 8,000 yen
・Considering both the nigiri and snacks, this restaurant feels like it has the best value for money in Tokyo.
To be honest, the location is bad so it’s not suitable for dates, etc., but it’s recommended if you just want to try sushi or eat delicious sushi.
Although the interior and tableware do not have a luxurious feel, the price is kept low because there are no costs for labor, land, and interior decoration, and the price is an amazing 8,000 yen (excluding tax)!
The quality of the snacks and nigiri are more than enough for 8,000 yen, so be sure to check them out. If it’s close to my house, I can’t avoid repeat visits, but the problem is that it’s far from the city center…
Sushi Kizaki (Akasaka)
“Kizaki” has the best value for lunch.
point
・Akasaka Mitsuke
・Lunch is 12,000 yen
・The interior of the store has a luxurious feel
・Best cost performance for lunch
・General’s customer service has mixed reviews
The lunch course is recommended, and the red sushi rice nigiri is seriously delicious. It’s not cheap by any means, but considering you can eat some of the best nigiri in Tokyo for 12,000 yen (just nigiri), it’s a good value for money.
In my opinion, this one has the most delicious sushi of the sushi restaurants introduced this time.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that the owner of this restaurant has a strong personality, and some people may feel that he is too harsh towards customers and employees, which may reduce your satisfaction level.
Please be especially careful when taking photos or videos.
In fact, a gourmet influencer wrote a review on Google saying, “The customer service was unpleasant.” However, the taste is authentic, so if you want to enjoy high-quality sushi at a reasonable price, I recommend it.
Sushi Keita (Ginza)
“Sushi Keita” has one Michelin star and offers extremely high cost performance for lunch.
Point
・Ginza
・Strongest cost performance
・The general is friendly
・The interior of the store has a luxurious feel
・Michelin one star
・Lunch is only available on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays
Lunch is 5,500 yen and 10,000 yen
Of the restaurants I’ll be introducing this time, this one is so delicious that it competes for 1st or 2nd place alongside “Kizai”.
The dinner price is over 20,000 yen, but the lunch course, which only includes nigiri, is an astonishing 10,000 yen. The level of satisfaction that can be obtained in this price range is quite high, and I rate it highly.
This restaurant is definitely recommended for “delicious sushi for about 10,000 yen.” There was originally a 5,500 yen course, but that seems to have been discontinued. Regret.
By the way, the great thing about the chef’s generosity makes people love him.
Sushi Rizaki (Shibuya)
“Rizaki” opened in Shibuya in July 2019 and is rapidly gaining popularity.
Point
・Shibuya
・The interior of the store has a luxurious feel.
・The general is pretty cool
・Reservations are required as it is a popular restaurant
・Dinner is 18,000 yen
Among the restaurants introduced in this time’s cost performance section, this is the only one with a slightly higher course price at 18,000 yen (previously it was 16,000 yen).
The chef is young and his personality is a bit cool, so some people may find it off-putting.
It’s a little pricey for a cost performance store, but the grip is reliable. Shibuya is a barren place for sushi, so if you want to eat delicious sushi in Shibuya, come and visit here.
By the way, Kurosaki, which is also located in Shibuya, is one of the best sushi restaurants in Tokyo in my opinion, so you should definitely visit it at least once. “Kurosaki” is expensive, but it’s one of the few places where you can eat impressive sushi.
Sushi Ishijima (Shintomi Town)
“Sushi Ishijima” is the place where lunch is a great value.
Point
・Shintomi-cho
・Lunch is high cost performance
・The cooking tempo is too fast
・Reservations required for the 4,400 yen course
Dinner is over 30,000 yen, but lunch nigiri is extremely affordable at 1,650 yen or 4,400 yen.
Both lunch courses have 10 dishes, but the difference between the two is that the more expensive courses include high-quality toppings such as tuna. The 1,650 yen course is definitely a bargain, so if you go to this restaurant, we recommend the 1,650 yen course.
However, for the cheaper courses, you will have to wait in line for 20-30 minutes, so be prepared for that. Or can make reservations for the 4,400 yen course, but personally, I think the value of this restaurant is the 1,650 yen course.
This is because, although the 4,400 yen course is certainly good value for money compared to the content, the problem is that it is served speedy and you can’t slow down at all.
If you want to eat crispy and authentic sushi, the 4,400 yen course includes them.
Manten Sushi (Marunouchi)
“Manten Sushi” is one of the most popular in Tokyo.
Point
・Inside is a bit cramped
・The volume is amazing
・casual atmosphere
・Marunouchi, Nihonbashi, Hibiya
・3,000 yen (day), 6,000 yen (day/night)
This restaurant, which tends to go viral on social media, also has a good reputation for its high value for money.
In fact, they has a 6,000 yen course to have more than 25 items and it’s simply delicious. However, for those who are used to eating sushi, the truth is that the taste is still lacking.
The most satisfying lunch here is to choose the 3,000 yen nigiri-only course.
Please note that the 3,000 yen course cannot be reserved, but the 6,000 yen course can be reserved. It is very crowded at noon, so please take this into consideration when visiting.
Sushi Tokyo Ten
Sushi Tokyo Ten is recommended for young people in their early to mid-20s.
Point
・For young people
・Roppongi, Shinjuku, Shibuya
・casual atmosphere
・Lunch 3,500 yen, dinner 7,000 yen
This restaurant is targetting for young people and people who are not used to sushi. There are over 20 items including snacks and nigiri, and the dinner is an astonishing 7,000 yen (excluding tax).
However, for people who are used to eating really delicious sushi, the taste is not quite as good, so I recommend it to people who just want to satisfy their sushi cravings.
The nigiri was still good, but I personally didn’t think the snacks were delicious (average taste). Therefore, the most satisfying option at this restaurant is to eat only the 3,500 yen nigiri for lunch.
Summary
Among the restaurants we introduced this time, we recommend the following because they are easy to make reservations for.
I hope this will be helpful as a reference for sushi restaurants with high cost performance.
Especially recommended sushi restaurant
・Sushi Morinari
・Sushi Tsukiuda
・Tsukiji Aozora Sandaime Marunouchi
Tsukiji’s “Sushi Morinari”, which has the best value for money, both day and night, is highly recommended!
