What is the popular conveyor belt sushi chain “Uobei”?

Shrimp on a conveyor belt sushi rail

Uobei is a popular conveyor belt sushi chain operated by Genki Sushi Co., Ltd. The group also includes the semi-low-price conveyor belt sushi chain Genki Sushi” and the mid-range conveyor belt sushi chainSenryo”.

On the other hand, Uobei opened its first store in Utsunomiya City in 2012 as a low-priced conveyor belt sushi chain with a uniform price of 110 yen (tax included).Since then, the scale has steadily expanded, reaching 120 stores in just 7 years. Did.

Genki Sushi Co., Ltd. originally operated “Sushiondo” as a 110 yen (tax included) store brand, but Uobei was born as a result of gradual replacement. Because Uobei is based on the knowledge, skills, and experience that we have cultivated at Sushi Ondo, we are confident in creating an even more advanced restaurant.

Uobei’s commitment

The secret behind Uobei’s rapid growth into a very popular restaurant in a short period of time lies in four things. The first thing Uobei is particular about is speed. At Uobei, we have introduced touch panels and the industry’s first “triple lane” system to provide products more quickly after receiving an order.

Triple lane is a system that runs two high-speed lanes on top of the normal turning lane. As of August 2022, some stores still have normal rotating lanes, but we are gradually expanding stores with only straight high-speed lanes. The reason for removing the rotating lanes was the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in 2011.

Immediately after the earthquake, there was a need to conserve electricity, so one Sushi Ondo restaurant stopped its rotating lanes and operated only on express lanes. As a result, sales did not change much, and the fish bait with its high-speed lane became a huge success and continues to this day.

In addition, the touch panel not only allows for faster ordering, but because all order data is aggregated, it is possible to predict the type and quantity of toppings depending on the time of day. Therefore, you can prepare by cutting the necessary ingredients according to the timing when it is likely to be crowded.

Since we have a large number of staff in the kitchen, we can quickly respond to large orders and provide freshly made sushi.

The second thing that Uobei is particular about is “safe prices and high quality.” By shifting from the rotating lane to the high-speed lane at Uobei, we have reduced “drying loss” to zero. Drying loss is the disposal of dried products that have gone around the carousel many times.

At Uobai, which uses a high-speed lane, the fish is made only after receiving the order, eliminating drying waste and reducing costs, allowing us to offer fresh, large toppings at an affordable price of 110 yen (tax included).

The third thing Uobei is particular about is a “comfortable space.” The logo color is a chic reddish-brown design, and the white-based interior is both clean and stylish, and at the same time you can feel the warmth of wood.

At Uobei, we have introduced the latest systems and continue to strive to create a restaurant where you can enjoy a pleasant meal.

Uobei’s fourth commitment is “fun.” Popular vehicles such as the Space Shuttle and the Shinkansen deliver goods to Uobei’s famous high-speed lane. As a result, children are happy every time a product is brought to them and are less likely to get bored, allowing moms and dads to enjoy their meals more slowly.

Another great feature is that you can try the game Sushi Roulette” by ordering the target menu on the touch panel. It’s a simple game where you just press the start button, but if you win, you can choose between agacha coin” or a “10% off coupon for food and drinks” as a prize.

Gacha coins can be used at the gacha machines installed at the entrance that accept gacha coins.

The contents of the gacha gacha are Genki Sushi’s original goods that are not for sale. You can get fun and cute items such as the Tokotoko Name Holder” that clatters down a slope and theMaze Game” with an octopus design, making it recommended for children.

Uobei is a highly satisfying restaurant where you can enjoy high-quality, delicious sushi at reasonable prices in a comfortable and fun atmosphere.

Uobei’s recommended menu

MENU characters

Uobei has a wide variety of toppings, so people of all ages can enjoy a menu that suits their tastes. Here, we will introduce a selection of standard and unusual toppings as Uobei’s recommended and popular menu items. The price of all products introduced is 110 yen (tax included).
*Menu contents and prices are as of August 2022, from the information on Uobei’s official website.

Standard menu

There are four recommended standard toppings for fish dishes. The first recommended standard item for Uobei is “tuna.” Tuna, the king of sushi, is known as a popular topping that can be considered a Uobei specialty.

The toppings are thick enough to cover the sushi rice, making it one of the largest in the industry for a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that costs 110 yen (tax included) per plate. As a result, you can fully enjoy the flavor of the tuna, and it goes perfectly with the warm sushi rice. You will be surprised at the high quality of the dish considering it is only 110 yen (tax included).

We also recommend the “Tuna/Bottle Tuna”, which is a combination of two types of toppings each, as the bottle-choked tuna is both filling and delicious.

The second recommended standard fish dish is salmon. Like the tuna, Uobei’s salmon has a large topping and is voluminous. High-quality, fatty salmon is a popular dish that is both delicious and satisfying, so don’t forget to order it when you go to Uobai.

There are four types of toppings using salmon that are popular at Uobei: Onion Salmon”,Grilled Salmon”, Salmon with Green Onion Chili Oil”, andSalmon with Pepper Mayo”.

In addition, the carefully selected 1-piece series, Ogiri Toro Salmon” andOgiri Toro Salmon Aburi”, are recommended because each piece is only 110 yen (tax included), has a huge topping, and is very flavorful. If you like salmon, be sure to try them and compare them.
*This product is no longer on sale as of August 2022.

The third recommended standard topping for Uobei is horse mackerel. Uobei’s horse mackerel has a reputation for not being a disappointment no matter when you eat it, as the toppings are huge and magnificent. The size is obvious compared to other conveyor belt sushi chains, and it’s a menu with the best value for money where you can enjoy the smooth texture and flavor of horse mackerel.

The fourth recommended standard item at Uobei is “Hokkaido scallops.” The carefully selected one-piece series, priced at 110 yen (tax included) per piece, is popular for its high quality and satisfaction. The meat is thick and moist, allowing you to fully enjoy the natural sweetness of scallops.

unusual menu

Uobei is a popular restaurant that has a wide variety of unusual dishes such as hamburgers and beef short ribs in addition to the popular standard dishes. Among them, there are two recommended unusual fish dishes.

The first recommended unusual topping at Uobei is the “shrimp tempura roll.” Shrimp Tenmaki has an impressive appearance and volume that makes fish fans go crazy.

Uobei’s shrimp tempura roll has seaweed wrapped inside like a California roll, and there are two pieces of shrimp tempura in the center. The secret to the popularity of Uobei’s shrimp tempura rolls is that they can be eaten freshly made. The shrimp tempura is fried and rolled after receiving your order, so the shrimp tempura is juicy and crispy.

In addition, the white sesame seeds sprinkled on the surface of the rice give it an accent, and it doesn’t feel too heavy despite its apparent volume. As time passes, the freshly fried flavor of the shrimp tempmaki loses by half, so we recommend eating it as soon as you receive it.

The second recommended unusual topping for Uobei is “prosciutto ham salad.” Although the prosciutto is thinly sliced, it is moderately rich, and the accent of sliced onions and the richness of mayonnaise are well balanced. This is a popular menu item with a high level of perfection that will satisfy even adults.

All products are made without wasabi

At Uobei, we are particular about making all of our products “without wasabi” so that you can enjoy the original quality and aroma of wasabi. Just before eating, add wasabi on the table and enjoy the aroma.

The scent of wasabi is the perfect accent for sashimi, making the sushi even more delicious. Additionally, providing all products without wasabi has the benefit of allowing people and children who don’t like wasabi to enjoy conveyor belt sushi with peace of mind.

Uobei’s official app is convenient!

If you want to use Uobei, the official app has a reputation for being convenient and convenient. Genki Sushi Co., Ltd. runs an official app service common to Uobei, Genki Sushi, and Senryo, and when you download the app, you can use six functions.

The first function of Uobei’s official app is “waiting reservation/take-out reservation”. Waitlist reservation is a service that allows you to be seated preferentially when you arrive at a restaurant at a specified time.

Since it is not a seat reservation, there may be some waiting time during busy times, but this is a recommended feature that can significantly shorten the waiting time compared to going directly to the store. However, some stores do not support the waiting list reservation service.

In order to make a waiting list reservation, you must first register the store you want to use as a favorite. Simply select the target store from the store search and tap “Add to Favorites” to complete registration. Once you have completed your favorites registration, you will be redirected to the page for the store you have registered, and you will be able to make reservations on the waiting list.

From the top screen, go to Make a waitlist reservation” and thenSpecify date/priority time” and specify the date,''hour,” and “minute.” You can make reservations up to 7 days in advance and choose your time in 15-minute increments, so you can make effective use of your time.

Next, enter the “phone number”, “email address”, “number of people”, and “table type” and tap “Next”. Check the reservation details and if there are no mistakes, tap “Wait in line” to complete the reservation. Please check your reservation number, which will be displayed in the email you receive when your reservation is completed.

Go to the store on the specified date and time, enter your reservation number from the ticket machine’s “Check-in for customers who have already made reservations with your smartphone,” and you will be guided to your reserved time. However, please note that your reservation will be automatically canceled if more than 30 minutes have passed from the reservation time. You can easily cancel your reservation on the reservation number display screen.

To make a take-out reservation, simply open “Make a take-out reservation” on the top screen, select the target store, and select the desired pick-up date and time and product.

The list of takeout menus is displayed in an easy-to-understand manner, so you can make reservations more efficiently than in-store or over the phone. Furthermore, with cashless payment, you can receive your products without waiting at the store. However, some stores do not support takeout reservation service.

The second feature of Uobei’s official app is “SushiCa”. SushiCa refers to the original electronic money card that can be used by Genki Sushi Group.

Previously, we had an “App Stamp Service” where you could exchange the stamps you received for each visit to a coupon, but since the App Stamp Service ended on May 31, 2020, a new SushiCa function was installed.

Please note that the use of coupons exchanged with app stamps ended on June 30, 2020. If you charge SushiCa at a store and use it for payment, you will earn 1 point for every 200 yen (tax included). Bonus points will also be earned depending on the amount charged, with 1% for purchases of 3,000 yen or more and 3% for purchases of 10,000 yen or more.

If you charge 5,000 yen or more on the 5th day of the month (5th, 15th, 25th), you will earn 5% as a bonus campaign. The points you accumulate can be used for payment as 1 point = 1 yen, so it’s a great deal.

However, SushiCa has an expiration date, and the money balance is 2 years from the last charge or use date, and points are 1 year from the last grant and use date.

Additionally, by linking Uobei’s official app with SushiCa, you can now pay by simply showing the barcode displayed within the app.

The app x SushiCa allows you to charge online with a credit card, as well as make advance payments for takeout online reservations and easily check charge balances and points. Credit cards that can be charged online are “VISA”, “Mastercard”, “JCB”, and “AMEX”.

To use the app x SushiCa, simply have SushiCa issued at the store, enter the SushiCa card number and PIN number into the app, and charge the card. SushiCa can also be issued from the official app.

When you charge your card, you can use money and points at checkout and accumulate points at the same time. However, the charging method is only cash at the store and credit card only at the app.

The third feature of Uobei’s official app is “coupon acquisition”. Uobei’s official app distributes coupons exclusive to the app. We will introduce more details later in the section titled “Uobei’s Great Value Coupons.”

The fourth function of Uobei’s official app is “Get great deals”. Uobei’s official app provides various valuable information irregularly.

By registering frequently used stores as favorites, you will receive information about limited-time fairs, campaigns, new products, etc., so you don’t have to worry about missing out on great deals! After downloading the Uobei app, we recommend turning on push notifications.

The fifth function of Uobei’s official app is “store search”. If you enable the app’s location information service and tap Store Search, you can use the GPS function to search for nearby stores from your current location.

In addition, by selecting a store you searched for, you can check whether there is a parking lot or kids’ room, as well as whether it supports waiting list reservations, take-out reservations, and delivery.
